My Wish

The Sun sinks slowly into the western sky,
The first star of the evening begins to sparkle,
The shadows from the Mountain Ash draw long on the ground.

In the deepening gloom of the approaching night,
Two wander as without a care,
The path has no length, neither beginning nor end.

So completely alone together they walk,
Words have no meaning, so seldom they talk,
Just touching, their hands intertwined in the dusk.

The night finally plays with the cool breeze in the air,
The stars in their brilliance are delightfully near,
But the lovers don't see and nor do they hear.

For the love that's been nurtured for so many years,
Through so many trials, troubles and fears,
Is finally at rest within two hearts,
Now become one.
